From Surviving to Thriving: The #WorkItOut Campaign 2025–26

From Surviving to Thriving: The #WorkItOut Campaign 2025–26

In 2016, Survivors of Abuse launched with the support of the fitness community through our very first #WorkItOut campaign. Fitness professionals across the UK ran classes and events, donating proceeds to help us take our first steps as a charity.

Nine years later, our mission is clearer — and more urgent — than ever.

Why 2025–26 is a Pivotal Year

Our work has always been rooted in holistic health: mindset, nutrition, fitness, movement, and stress management. Survivors tell us that our programmes have not only changed their lives — in many cases, they have saved them.

But right now, our service provision is still local. To truly meet the need, we must grow into a national charity — reaching survivors wherever they are in the UK.

That’s why 2025–26 is not about launching. It’s about building the infrastructure we need to take Survivors of Abuse from just surviving to thriving.

The First Step: £75,000 through #DoIt4Survivors

We’ve set an initial fundraising target of £75,000 for 2025–26. This is our first milestone, not the finish line. Reaching it will prove that we can build a diverse and resilient funding funnel, giving us the strength to secure further investment and scale nationally.

A key part of this drive is the return of our #WorkItOut campaign — and once again, we’re calling on the fitness industry to lead the charge.

How Fitness Professionals Can Help

This October, for World Mental Health Day / Week / Month, we’re inviting fitness professionals across the UK to become Ambassadors:

• 🏋️ Run a class or event
• 🤝 Invite your community to join in
• 💷 Donate the proceeds to Survivors of Abuse through JustGiving

In return, we’ll celebrate your business across our social media and platforms — showing the world how the fitness industry is standing strong for survivors.

Our Roadmap: From Local to National

The £75,000 target is just the beginning. Here’s how it fits into our bigger vision:

Step 1 – Foundation (2025–26) → £75,000
• Relaunch #WorkItOut nationwide.
• Strengthen infrastructure: admin, operations, volunteer coordination.
• Deliver local courses consistently, with robust evaluation data.

📌 Goal: Move from surviving → stable foundation for growth.

Step 2 – Expansion (2026–28) → £250,000+

• Recruit and train fitness professionals as accredited facilitators.
• Extend service provision to multiple regions.
• Build partnerships with gyms, studios, and local authorities.
• Invest in hybrid delivery (online + in-person).

📌 Goal: Move from local → regional presence.

Step 3 – National Scale (2028–30) → £500,000+ annually

• Roll out programmes nationwide.
• Establish a training academy for fitness professionals and allied health practitioners.
• Secure long-term contracts with NHS, councils, and major funders.
• Become recognised as the UK’s leading holistic health charity for survivors of abuse.

📌 Goal: Move from regional → national leader in holistic survivor support.

Why This Matters

The funding landscape is tough for every charity. While we have three major bids awaiting decisions, we cannot simply sit back and wait. To grow sustainably, we must show funders that we already have momentum, grassroots support, and diverse income streams.

Every class, every event, every pound raised through #WorkItOut builds that momentum — proving that together, we can deliver impact on a national scale.
