Breaking The Cycle™

Our mission

Our mission is to empower adult survivors of childhood abuse and domestic violence to move beyond survival and build sustainable wellbeing.

We do this by delivering structured, holistic recovery programmes that support long-term change across mindset, physical health, emotional regulation, lifestyle and stress management.

About Survivors of Abuse

Survivors of Abuse (S.O.B) is a survivor-led charity supporting adults impacted by childhood abuse to take meaningful steps towards recovery.

Our work is grounded in lived experience and informed by trauma-aware, holistic practice. We focus on education, self-understanding and capacity-building — supporting people to rebuild confidence, agency and quality of life.

Our approach

At the heart of what we provide is Breaking the Cycle™, delivered through our structured, holistic 8-week C.L.E.A.N.E.R™ programme.

We are currently the only survivor-led, structured, holistic recovery programme in the UK specifically designed for adult survivors of childhood abuse and domestic violence.

This is a psycho-educational, recovery-focused programme. It is not counselling, therapy or crisis intervention.

Many adult survivors carry the long-term effects of early trauma into later life, impacting physical health, mental and emotional wellbeing, relationships, confidence and daily functioning. Many also carry deep-seated shame and self-blame. Our programmes explicitly work to challenge these patterns and support the rebuilding of awareness, resilience and self-trust.

Unlike talk-based support alone, our approach integrates physical health, lifestyle and embodied practices alongside reflection and learning.

Access and funding

Thanks to fundraising and donations, we are able to offer our recovery programmes free of charge to participants.

Our purpose is to support adult survivors of childhood abuse to rebuild wellbeing, confidence and capacity so they can lead fulfilling, self-directed lives.
