From Survivor to Changemaker: Welcoming Our New Trustee, Pauline Sharp

“Together we conquer, together we heal.”

At Survivors Of aBuse (SoB), we believe that no one should have to walk the path of healing alone. Our mission—Rebuilding you piece by piece—comes to life through the stories of those who’ve turned pain into purpose. Today, we’re proud to welcome Pauline Sharp as one of our newest Trustees.

Pauline is a survivor of child sexual abuse. It wasn’t until her forties that she felt able to disclose her experience and seek the support she needed to begin healing. That journey wasn’t easy. Pauline describes it as a rollercoaster—full of stops and starts, with support sometimes hard to access or even understand. But within that struggle, a deep desire emerged: to help others on the same journey.

Pauline joined our C.L.E.A.N.E.R.™ Living Therapy, SoB’s holistic 8-week programme designed to support survivors through structured, compassionate healing. During the programme, Pauline shared her goal of creating a peer-to-peer support group for survivors of child sexual abuse.

Even before launching her own groups, Pauline and her friend Jo took on an incredible challenge—trekking the Great Wall of China—raising over £5,000 for SoB. This bold act was more than fundraising; it was a symbol of strength and hope.
With that same determination, Pauline went on to found Take Cover. Today, she runs two peer-led support groups—one in her community and another on the Isle of Wight. These groups provide safe, understanding, and empowering spaces for survivors to connect and begin rebuilding.

Pauline has also recently qualified as a Trauma-Informed Coach, giving her additional tools to support others on their healing journey. She is a passionate advocate, continually raising awareness of the long-lasting impact of child sexual abuse.

Now, as a Trustee of SoB, Pauline brings her lived experience, her compassionate leadership, and her unwavering commitment to survivor-led healing. Her motto, “Together we conquer, together we heal,” aligns powerfully with SoB’s own belief that there is love, life, and laughter after abuse.
