Feedback following a trauma-informed workshop
Grateful to receive this feedback following a trauma-informed workshop I delivered in Brixton for mums of autistic and ADHD children, hosted by a Spanish-speaking community group supporting neurodiverse families.
The session focused on:
• understanding abuse and grooming
• how trauma can present differently in autistic and ADHD children
• recognising early warning signs
• understanding emotional and behavioural responses
• practical tools for body safety, communication, and confidence
The session was delivered with an awareness that some parents themselves were survivors of abuse, and was designed to be safe, compassionate, and empowering for everyone in the room.
To ensure accessibility and cultural sensitivity, I created a bespoke learning pack that was fully translated into Spanish, enabling mums to engage with the material in their first language and take it home with confidence.
What mattered most was hearing that parents left feeling better informed, reassured, and more confident in supporting their children — and that they are already asking for further workshops, particularly around online safety and emotional wellbeing.
If you’re part of a community group, school, or organisation and would like to organise a bespoke, trauma-informed session for parents or staff, please do get in touch.
