Through the Eyes of a Child – One System. One Response.
“Most child sexual abuse begins at home – but it’s where our systems respond the least.”
This survivor-led parliamentary briefing was written by Chris Tuck, founder of Survivors of Abuse CIO and a former member of the Victims and Survivors Consultative Panel (VSCP) at the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA).
Based on lived experience, inquiry findings, and decades of systemic failure, this briefing calls for urgent reform of how the UK responds to CSA in the family environment.
CSA Parliamentary Briefing
Chris Tuck – One System.
One Response.
This is not just a campaign. It is a call to rebuild broken systems, confront uncomfortable truths, and ensure every child is protected — in every setting.
The briefing covers:
- The institutional failures of family courts and social services
- Why intrafamilial CSA remains under-recognised in policy and public response
- The 2025 update on IICSA’s 20 recommendations — and what still hasn’t been done
- The weakening of the Child Protection Authority’s powers
- The lack of recognition for children who fled abuse but were never formally in care
This briefing is authored by Chris Tuck in her personal and professional capacity as a survivor advocate and policy contributor. While it aligns with the mission of Survivors of Abuse CIO to promote safeguarding, improve responses to child sexual abuse, and support survivors, it is not a party-political publication.
Survivors of Abuse CIO operates independently of any political party and complies with the Charity Commission’s guidance for CIOs on campaigning and advocacy.
