🌟 Welcoming Our New Trustee: Tina Saunders 🌟

Strengthening Survivor-Led Governance at Survivors Of aBuse (SoB) – We are delighted to welcome Tina Saunders to the Board of Trustees at Survivors Of aBuse (SoB), joining us in November 2025.

Tina brings a powerful combination of lived experience, professional expertise, and survivor-centred advocacy β€” all deeply aligned with SoB’s mission to break cycles of abuse and support survivors to rebuild their lives through trauma-informed education, health, and wellbeing.

A Journey of Healing, Education and Purpose – Having survived domestic abuse, Tina used education, health, and wellness to take back control of her life and rebuild, much like the transformation offered through SoB’s C.L.E.A.N.E.R.β„’ Living Therapy Programme.

Her recognition of the programme’s impact and alignment with her own journey is what first drew her to the work we do β€” and why she wanted to contribute to our mission on a deeper level.

A Strong Professional Foundation in Youth Work, Community Support and Nursing – Tina’s career reflects a long-standing commitment to supporting vulnerable people:
β€’ Bachelor’s Degree in Youth and Community Studies
β€’ Experience delivering outreach support and accommodation services for displaced young people
β€’ Providing emotional wellbeing support, information, advice and guidance
β€’ Transitioning into the NHS and completing a Foundation Degree in Nursing, followed by a Bachelor’s in Mental Health Nursing
β€’ Professional experience across NHS services including:
β€’ Sexual health
β€’ Haematology
β€’ Dementia care
β€’ Mental health nursing

Her clinical insight β€” combined with frontline experience in youth and community work β€” adds significant depth to our Board.

A Voice for Survivors and System Change – Tina is an active member of the Expert by Experience Panel for her local council, where she ensures survivors of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) have genuine influence in:

β€’ Service design
β€’ Policy development
β€’ Professional training
β€’ Measuring the effectiveness of initiatives

Her leadership ensures survivor voices remain central, shaping local responses, raising awareness, breaking stigma, and driving improved outcomes.

Advocacy in Action – Tina has also used her passion for running to raise awareness and fundraise for several causes close to her heart, including SoB, youth services and domestic abuse charities. Her commitment reflects her belief that advocacy is not just spoken β€” it is lived.

Why Tina Strengthens Our Board – Tina brings:
β€’ Deep lived experience and empathy
β€’ Strong professional background in youth work, community services, and mental health nursing
β€’ Proven commitment to survivor advocacy and system change
β€’ Alignment with SoB’s trauma-informed, empowerment-focused ethos
β€’ A calm, grounded, compassionate presence β€” rooted in experience, not theory

Her appointment supports our ongoing focus on strengthening governance, enhancing diversity of expertise, and embedding survivor leadership at the heart of SoB.

A Warm Welcome – We are honoured to welcome Tina Saunders to the SoB Board of Trustees. Her insight, compassion, and commitment will help us continue to grow ethically, sustainably, and with survivors’ needs at the centre of every decision.

Welcome to the team, Tina β€” we are so grateful to have you with us.
